Q: Would it be better to make an appointment or fax the information?
If your tax return is not very complicated, it may be easier to fax it. If you have a fax machine available, we can fax the information sheet to you, which explains what you will need to fax back to us to complete your return.

Q: How do you fax your return?
If you have access to a fax machine, we can fax the information sheet to you, explaining what you will need to fax. Once we receive the information from you, a representative will contact you to let you know when your return will be completed and when you can pick it up at our Riverside branch or we can mail your completed return to you.

Q: What do I need to bring to my appointment?
We can mail, fax or email the tax checklist to you, which explains everything you will need to bring to your appointment.

Q: I did not get my tax checklist and do not know what to bring.
Some of the basic things you will need are:

  1. W-2s
  2. Any 1099s
  3. Child care receipts
  4. Donation receipts
  5. Mortgage interest and taxes

Q: What is a W-2?
A W-2 is a form you receive from your employer showing the pay you received for your services. It also includes any miscellaneous employee compensation for commissions, allowances, reimbursements, and fringe benefits.

Q: What is a W-4?
A W-4 is an employee's withholding allowance certificate. At the time of hire, an employee is entitled to specify what withholding allowances should be taken from their income depending upon their filing status and the number of dependents. Allowances for itemized deductions are also permitted.

Q: What is a 1099?
In order to comply with the IRS tax requirements, any non-employee compensation must be reported to the IRS. This could include income earned on a contract basis, interest earnings, rents, capital gains, and short sales.

Q: What does AGI mean?
AGI stands for adjusted gross income. Your adjusted gross income is your gross income less allowable IRS adjustments, such as IRA contributions, alimony paid, moving expenses, and Keogh deductions.

Q: What is considered an IRA?
IRAs, or Individual Retirement Accounts, are an excellent way to save for retirement for yourself and your beneficiaries. With a traditional IRA, you can receive an up-front deduction of up to $2,000 of annual contributions, if you qualify. All investment earnings on your IRA are tax-deferred that is, tax is only due when you receive distributions from the account.

Q: How much does the tax service cost?
The cost depends on the type of return. An EZ form is $29.95. If you are currently one of our clients, this cost can be added to your SPRINGBOARD® payment in two monthly installments of $14.97. Long forms start at $89.00. If you have a fax machine or email address, we can fax or email the fee schedule to you.

Q: Who will be doing my return?
Certified and bonded tax preparers will complete your return for you.
